| Information on 2026 State Examination Entry Fees |
| Dear Parent/Guardian, Please see important information below regarding the entry fees for the 2026 State Examinations as issued by the State Examinations Commission (SEC). ▶ Examination Entry Fees for 2026 Following the end of the temporary fee waiver, examination entry fees will apply again for all candidates sitting State exams in 2026. Fees remain unchanged from the last time they were charged (2019). Leaving Certificate / LCA: €116 per candidate Junior Cycle: €109 per candidate ▶ Medical Card Fee Exemptions Students are exempt from paying the examination fee if: They hold a full medical card, or They are covered under a parent/guardian’s full medical card, and the card is valid at any time between 1 January 2026 and 30 April 2026. GP Visit Cards do not qualify for exemption. Eligible families must apply online when the SEC opens its online exemption facility in Spring 2026. ▶ Payment Method Payment of fees will be made online through the Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP). Further detailed instructions will be issued by the SEC closer to the registration and payment window. ▶ Additional Note The reintroduction of fees follows Budget 2026 decisions; however, fee levels have not increased since 2012.
